tumko na bhul payenge, which was released in kolkata in the first week of march and features salman khan, indar kumar, susmita sen, diya mirza and mukesh rishi, seems to be in troubled waters.
the committee for protection of democratic rights, west bengal, has lodged a complain with the human rights commission against the movie.
in a scene, mukesh rishi (who plays m k sharma, joint commissioner of police, crime branch, mumbai police) says, referring to criminals, “iin logo ka ek hi ilaaj hai, inko maar dalo.
aur police jab bhi ye kaam karne jate hai, to ye samaj sebi sansthaye aur human rights walloh hangama macha dete hei ...
(the only way to tackle criminals is to kill them, but whenever the police tries to do so, the human rights commissions step into the scene.)
shyamal sikdar, general secretary, cpdr, west bengal, first spotted this scene and was shocked at the dialogue. “we do not support criminals, he said.
a letter dated march 13 was faxed to pankaj parashar, director of the film, bringing to his note that his film carries objectionable dialogues defaming the role of the human rights commission.
in the letter, cpdr has also asked him to justify his stand within seven days of receipt of the letter. “but we haven’t received any reply from them as yet, said subrata dey, north kolkata general secretary, cpdr.
letters have been forwarded to vijay anand, chairman, central board of film certification, and susma swaraj, minister-in charge, department of information and broadcasting, government of india, both dated march 15, with an appeal to stop the screening of the film immediately, and reply within three days in earnest.
“but here again, we haven’t received any reply, said sikdar. “accordingly, we lodged a complain with the human rights commission, west bengal as well as national human rights commission on march 19.
when mukul gopal mukherjee, chairman, human rights commission, west bengal, was contacted, he affirmed that he had received the letter and appreciated the initiative taken by cpdr. but he said, “i’d rather like to ignore the matter. but cpdr isn’t ready to take it so coolly.
“if cbfc or department of information or broadcasting, doesn’t take immediate action, we’ll file a defamation suit against baba films, who are marketing the film as well as the cbfc, said sikdar.
